SHERATON SAND KEY RESORT INTRODUCES INTERACTIVE COOKING SESSION FOR MEETING GROUPS
Executive Chef Guides Groups Creation of Three-Course Meals
CLEARWATER BEACH, Fla. - (May 2002) - Meeting planners have something new to consider when
organizing group activities at Sheraton Sand Key Resort - an interactive cooking/dining session.
The resort has introduced a completely interactive session enabling groups between 20-60 to create their
very own meal guided by executive Chef John Harris. Using two 10x10 screens displaying the chef's table
from the front of the room, participants are grouped in tables of six or eight and guided step-by-step
in preparing an appetizer, main course and dessert from the menu at the resort. Each course is prepared
by smaller teams of two or three and served to the entire table. Additional roaming chefs supervise and
assist the class as they learn to prepare a meal Sheraton Sand Key style.
"We're excited to be able to offer something like this to our groups," says Russ Kimball, general manager.
"We've received great recognition for our menus and now we're happy to be able to teach some of those skills
to others and it's a fun team-building activity. "
With 24,000 square feet of recently remodeled meeting space, the Sheraton Sand Key on Clearwater Beach
accommodates meetings from ten to 1200. Ballrooms feature state-of-the-art lighting controls and Janus
electronic information and events signage. The resort also offers group options such as sunset dinners
or pre-event parties.
The Sheraton Sand Key's 390 rooms and 15 suites each have a private balcony or patio with a bay or gulf
view. In addition, the renovated resort features: award-winning dining at Rusty's Bistro, the Island
Grille, Mainstay Tavern, the beachfront Poolside Café and the Turtle Bar; meeting space; the BlueWater
Provisions and SeaGrapes Apparel shops; a Fitness Center; Kid's Club; tennis; and more.
