SHERATON SAND KEY, OFFICIAL HOTEL HEADQUARTERS FOR FORD IRONMAN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

CLEARWATER BEACH, Fla. - (November 12, 2006) – Clearwater, FL was the site of the Ford Ironman World Championship 70.3 on November 11, 2006. Clearwater hosted more than 1,800 domestic and international athletes in an event that began and ended at Pier 60.

The Sheraton Sand Key Resort proudly served as the official hotel headquarters for this new world championship event. The resort hosted a variety of the pre- and post-race activities, including athlete check-in and banquet functions. The 2006 Ford Ironman World Championship was televised by NBC.
