SHERATON SAND KEY RESORT FACT SHEET
DESCRIPTION:
Located on 10 acres of white sandy beaches, the Sheraton Sand Key Resort has 390 guest rooms
with private sun-warmed balconies overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. The award-winning resort is
adjacent to the renowned Sand Key Park, which has been named as one of the Top 20 Beaches in
America by "Dr. Beach," Dr. Stephen P. Leatherman of the University of Maryland. The Sheraton
Sand Key offers a variety of facilities and amenities for its guests including: fine dining,
poolside sunbathing, Suncoast Fitness Center, lighted tennis courts, beach and water activities,
shopping, and area attractions nearby.
LOCATION:
Situated adjacent to Sand Key Park on Clearwater Beach, Florida, the Sheraton Sand Key is 25
minutes or less west of Tampa International Airport.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
The resort's 375 guest rooms and 15 suites feature 25" color televisions, coffee-tea makers,
iron/ironing boards, hair dryers and Hansgrohe shower heads. A private balcony or patio graces
each Gulf breeze room.
RESTAURANTS:
From elegant restaurant dining to catered affairs, fine food is priority. Awarded by Chris
Sherman from the St. Petersburg Times as one of the top 30 restaurants in the Tampa Bay area
-- Rusty's casual elegance offers international specialties and Florida favorites. Lighter
fare can be found at the Island Grille. Poolside, enjoy tropical concoctions at the Turtle
Bar or fresh sandwiches, salads and pizzas at the Poolside Cafe. BlueWater Provisions provides
24-hour service for snacks, light food and beverages along with needed convenience items. The
Mainstay Tavern is the ultimate destination for meeting friends and relaxing. Cool drinks, fun
entertainment, a challenging game of billiards or darts, and a big screen television make it
the natural gathering spot in the resort. Poolside grilling, creative theme parties, beach
events and black-tie affairs can be catered or customized for groups. For the shopper, SeaGrapes
boutique offers Sheraton signature items.
ACTIVITIES:
Guests can relax near the beachside pool and whirlpool or participate in extensive beach and water
sports activities including jet skiing, sailing, windsurfing, cabanas and beachside buggy food and
beverage service. Children play in their own kiddie pool and playground or engage in activities,
including an organized children's program during the summer. The Suncoast Fitness Center features
a full line of state-of-the-art equipment, massage and sauna. Three tennis courts with a pro on-site
are available. Golf, fishing and boat rentals are nearby along with more than 30 shops across the
street at the Shoppes of Sand Key. Attractions such as Busch Gardens are a mere 45 minutes away and
Orlando theme parks are 90 minutes east.
MEETINGS:
All 24,000 sq. ft. of meeting space have been remodeled within the last two years and accommodate
meetings from 10 to 1,200 guests. The 8,576 square foot ballroom is large enough for 1,200 people
and a variety of meeting rooms can meet almost every option. Spectacular private sunset beach parties
can be created for groups. Pre-event function areas are ideal for formal to ultra casual themes. A
remote lighting control system, Janus electronic information, and Events signage are just a few
amenities that meeting executives can use.
AWARDS:
The Sheraton Sand Key has been awarded the Chairman's Club Award for service as determined by JD
Powers & Associates. Russ Kimball has been selected by Sheraton as General Manager of the Year and
awarded by the Florida Hotel/Motel Association as the Hotelier of the Year. The resort recently
received the 2001 "Stars of the South" award from Meetings South magazine.
